The difference between the meter box and the small power distribution unit (SPDU)
The meter box and the small power distribution unit (SPDU) are two different devices, and their main difference lies in their purpose and function.
A meter box is a box in which an electric energy meter is installed to measure and record the consumption of electric energy. It is usually installed at the incoming line of residential and commercial buildings as one of the infrastructures for electricity metering.
The small power distribution unit (SPDU) is used for the distribution and control of electric energy. It is usually installed inside the building to distribute the electric energy input by the main power supply to each circuit, and at the same time provide safety measures such as overload and leakage protection.
Therefore, there are obvious differences in functions and uses between the meter box and the small power distribution unit (SPDU). In addition, from a structural point of view, the meter box is generally smaller than the small power distribution unit (SPDU), with only one energy meter and some wire connection parts, while the small power distribution unit (SPDU) is more complicated, including multiple circuit breakers, fuses, terminal blocks and other components.
